Hi,

Since around noon all 3 my laptops started to show error “There is another device with same IP address” when connecting to WiFi.

Devices connected with ethernet cable to the router are not affected.

Since the problem began, router logs are full with “disabling DHCP static address” for some reason:

726 Oct 8 12:30:48  daemon  debug   dhcpd   dnsmasq-dhcp: sendLeaseMessageToESMD esmd ret=1
727 Oct 8 12:30:48  daemon  debug   dhcpd   dnsmasq-dhcp: ip lease:192.168.1.60, given to MAC:86:25:90:8c:78:23, with hostname:*, Lease time:86478

732 Oct 8 12:30:43  daemon  debug   dhcpd   dnsmasq-dhcp: ip lease:192.168.1.60, given to MAC:86:25:90:8c:78:23, with hostname:*, Lease time:86478
733 Oct 8 12:30:43  daemon  info    dhcpd   dnsmasq-dhcp: sendLeaseMessageToESMD
734 Oct 8 12:30:41  daemon  info    dhcpd   dnsmasq-dhcp: read /etc/ethers - 0 addresses
735 Oct 8 12:30:41  daemon  info    dhcpd   dnsmasq-dhcp: DHCP, IP range 192.168.1.50 -- 192.168.1.243, lease time 1d
736 Oct 8 12:30:40  user    notice  system  zcmdModuleCfg: System: Wan interface ETH_Internet connection ready

Restarting router or disabling/enabling wifi on both sides doesn’t help.

There were no messages in router logs about any firmware updates.

Since I’m dependent on wifi for work, I cannot use my Internet connection anymore.

Is this something that happens broadly today or only my router got broken ?

What’s the treatment for the problem?

Hey Tommie, I’ve found the issue.

One of the devices on the switch went rouge after uncontrolled reboot.

Hey @uuubbb, the log entries show that the DHCP server (dnsmasq) is declining or disabling IP leases.

Could you reboot the modem? I can see that you have a TP-Link also connected to your modem, is this a router or acces point? Can you also check if there maybe is a duplicate MAC-address?

Hi Tommie, y’day I had a call with Odido Customer Support agent who tried a few things, including reboots and resetting the router to factory settings. That didn’t help to solve the problem.

Some observations:

  • TP-Link switch is the only cable device connected to router, cable network keeps working just fine
  • there are no overlapping IP ranges or duplicate IPs on any of my devices connected to switch
  • the issue is not happening with Guest WiFi network
  • if I unplug my TP-Link switch from router, primary WiFi network starts working
  • in the last 24h prior the issue network settings didn’t change neither on router nor on TP-Link switch or connected devices
  • before router reset to factory settings, Static DHCP settings on router were full of records (even if I didn’t enter them manually), now it’s always empty
