Roaming not working in Zimbabwe

I am trying to use my sim card to receive OTP codes etc while im abroad in Zimbabwe but my sim card will not allow me to connect to any of the networks available in Zimbabwe. I dont have any payment overdue but it still does not work. Calling odido client service wont work for me - calling rates from here are over 2 euros a minute and thats  very expensive for something that should be working by default

Who could help me with this issue?

Hi @ZimLord First of all, best wishes for the new year and I hope you had a great New Year's Eve! If you tried your SIM card in another device and the problem persists, then it's your SIM card that's not working properly abroad. It's quite possible that it worked fine before, but no longer works properly abroad once you arrive in your destination country.

Are you staying in Zimbabwe for a long time? Then it is useful to buy a local SIM card and forward your number so that you can at least have a netwerk in Zimbabwe. When you return to the Netherlands, you can visit one of our shops. Upon presentation of valid ID, my colleagues can immediately help you link and activate a new SIM card.

Will that work? If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Hello @ZimLord

Have you tried restarting your phone?

Is roaming and mobile data turned on?

Fill in all the privé fields in your community profile so a moderator can check this for you.

So, it is a subscription,  not prepaid and you do not have a financial payment plan? When you manually search for networks, try to connect by selecting them.

Fill in your details in your forum profile. In the coming days, a moderator can take a look in the CRM systems.

Hey,

Same issue for me in Zimbabwe. Roaming is on. Restarted the phone and for some reason the phone keeps saying.

"Unable to connect to network" when manually selecting any service provider

Hello @ZimLord It's great that you're in Zimbabwe, and I completely understand that you want to have internet access there too. Let's work together to find a solution!

I immediately checked your subscription and I don't see any blocks or other issues. In your My Odido account, I also see that you are receiving the notification that you are in Zimbabwe, so that's good.

Could you check for me whether the software on your device is up to date? You can also reset your phone's network settings. On an Android device, you can do this as follows: Settings > General management. Then select Reset and then Reset network settings. If you have an iPhone, you can do this as follows: Settings > General > Transfer or reset [device] > Reset > Reset network settings. Then restart your device and check whether you can manually connect to a network from another provider.

Can you also check whether the APN name is set correctly? You can do this via your device's settings. It should say internet.mobiel. If something else is listed, it won't work. You can then manually change it to the correct name.

I'd love to hear from you!

Hello @Joepkoe could you try the steps above to see if that works? Could you add your full name, phone number, zip code + house number, date of birth, and the last 4 digits of the bank account number we have on file to your profile and let me know when you've done that? Then I can check with you right away to make sure everything is set up correctly for your subscription!

Thanks for your response. I have tried all of the above steps and still it wont connect to Econet, Telecel nor NetOne. I tried on my iPhone and I also tried on a Samsung device. Both the reseting and also the manual selection. I checked APN settings and all is good on both phones

when i manually try to connect, I get an error saying ‘Your sim card does not allow connection to this network’

when i was in South Africa, my sim card was also not working. Im not sure what else to do @Pharwin van Odido

@ZimLord ,

Clear, your sim looks broken.  Do you have prepaid or a subscription? With subscription,  are all invoices paid when you login to the my-odido portal?

I dont think my sim is broken. It worked literally at the airport before i left and didnt work as soon as i landed. I have a subscription and my phone and my monthly subscription are both paid for an up to date… If my sim is broken im not sure if my Odido app would say ‘Welcome to Zimbabwe’. I think issue is somewhere on the Odido end

If the Odido app detects you are in Zimbabwe,  the sim should have made a succesfull connection with a network there.  Sorry, i am out of ideas. Fill in all the requested info so a moderator can look into your account/crm system.
