Geen netwerk in Egypte (Geen blokkades, alle stappen al geprobeerd)

Hello Odido Community,

I am currently in Egypt and my phone has absolutely no service. I cannot connect to any local network provider.

An important detail: My phone and roaming worked perfectly fine just a few hours ago while I was in transit in Turkey. However, since arriving in Egypt, my service dropped completely. Interestingly, my Mijn Odido app still shows my current location status as "Turkey" instead of updating to Egypt.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps, but unfortunately without success:

  • Manual Network Selection: I searched manually and tried selecting both Vodafone EG and Orange, but my phone receives no signal or completely fails to register.

  • Mijn Odido Check: I verified my account settings, and there are absolutely NO active blocks for foreign countries or usage outside the EU.

  • Invoices Check: I checked my bills, and there are no outstanding invoices or payment arrangements.

  • Device Settings: I am using an iPhone, and iOS Lockdown Mode is turned completely OFF. Data roaming is turned on, and I have restarted my phone multiple times.

It seems like the system might be stuck processing my location change from Turkey to Egypt on the backend. Could a moderator please check my profile and reset the connection or lift any hidden network restrictions?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi Dina, welcome to our community. I hope you're enjoying your stay in Egypt! Let's get you connected quickly. If the location in Mijn Odido still says Turkey, that means that your sim card hasn't connected in Egypt yet. Good to see that you've already tried and checked a few important things. I think you still need an Internet op Reis-pas. You need a bundle in Egypt. Do you have access to Mijn Odido (via wifi)? You can simply order one from there. There are 2 available options in Egypt:

If you don't have access, I'm happy to activate one of these for you. Please reply to the message I sent you via Webcare Moderator. Then, I can look into your account fully! 😊

Hi Diana, thank you for your quick reply via DM! I've looked into your account and I don't see any barrings on roaming. One of the above bundles should solve your connection. The bundles are not connected to local service providers. They're our Odido bundles and we have agreements with the local networks to connect to them. In Egypt you can connect to Etisalat, Orange and Vodafone. And if not, I'm here to help you further of course.

Are you able to choose a bundle in Mijn Odido? You can do this on this page: GB's aanvullen | Odido. Scroll all the way down and you will see this screen where you can search for Egypt.

If you want me to do this for you, please let me know which one you would like and I'm happy to order it for you.

You're welcome! I've activated the M-pas for you. Please pull your sim card from your phone and put it back in. This should completely connect you to a network in Egypt again. If you don't have a connection right away please check the following:

  • Manually or automatically select a network. Please try all three:  Etisalat, Orange and Vodafone
  • Make sure that roaming is ON

I'd love to hear if it works now!

Thank you! I am afraid this has not solved the issue. My location in the My Odido app is still showing Turkey and I have no service. I use an eSIM so I switched it off and back on. I also tried to manually select a network, trying Orange, Vodafone and Etisalat but I have so service.

Hi Dina, sorry to hear that you're not connected yet. Let's quickly check one more thing. Do you have an old physical sim card in your phone? If yes, please remove this one, because this can cause roaming issues. Please let me know if this helped.

If not, I will forward a case to my technical colleagues. Is someone there with you? Do you have a phone number for me where my colleagues can reach you? Please send it to my via een private message (click on Stuur bericht).

Case: 83591391

Hello,

Thank you for your reply! My phone has no physical SIM so I would appreciate it if you could forward the case to the technical team.

Best,

Thank you for checking. I've forwarded the case. I hope my colleagues can fix this very soon. Please let me know if you've spoken to them. Otherwise I'm happy to check the case for updates in a few days.
