Request for MAC Release to Use Own Router (Netgear) for VPN (klik and klaar device)

Hello,

I am an Odido customer with a 'klik and klaar' device. I would like to use my Netgear R7000 router as the main router in order to configure a VPN for all devices in my home.

I contacted technical support, but unfortunately they were unable to release the MAC address or unlock the service for me. They recommended that I open a topic here in the community to request assistance.

Could you please help me with the MAC release/unlock of the service so I can use my own Netgear router? I can provide the MAC address if necessary.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards

Hello @Lucaspics

There is no MAC release required but you'll need a LTE modem with VPN support I guess. Not sure if the Klik&Klaar modem has the option to open all ports to the Netgear (DMZ).

Thank you for your response and the warm welcome to the Odido community!

My Netgear router does support VPN, but the klik and klaar modem does not provide WAN signal to it. I am still looking for a solution to unlock or enable WAN connection for my own router.

I appreciate any further assistance or suggestions you may have.

Be aware you get a new public IP every 24 hours on Klik en Klaar. So perhaps no need to use a router with VPN if you want to hide your IP for some reason.

Klik&Klaar LAN poort to Netgear WAN should work. Maybe the default LAN IP of the Netgear is the same as the LAN IP of the Klik&Klaar modem? Try changing it to 192.168.0.1 in that case.

Thank you for your suggestion! I have already changed the LAN IP of my Netgear router to 192.168.0.1 but it still does not work when connecting the Klik & Klaar LAN port to the Netgear WAN port. It only works when I use a LAN-to-LAN connection, but then I cannot use my router as the main for VPN purposes. If you have any other suggestions, I really appreciate it. Thank you!

The NR5307 should have a DMZ option. (Under Netwerkinstellingen, NAT, DMZ.)

Connect the Netgear WAN to the Zyxel LAN. Check on the Zyxel (login via wifi) what IP the Netgear was assigned (that's the 'external' IP of the Netgear but seeing from the Zyxel it's an internal ip for the Zyxel, probably in the 192.168.1.x range).

Then go to Netwerkinstellingen, NAT, DMZ and fill in that ip address. Now the Netgear will receive ALL trafic on its WAN port. Depending on the type of VPN technology you use, this should work now.
