Suddenly No Internet (Fiber Amsterdam)

Dear community,

I am a fiberoptic subscriber and I am on ODF network in Amsterdam.

Today around 16:40, I suddenly disconnected from the internet and since then there is no connection.

My ONT device has PON light blinking green (around two blinks per second) and there is no LOS light. I am suspecting that my ONT device is not being authenticated by the OLT.

Of course I tried power cycles, and all those shabang. Odido customer service is sending Guidion for tomorrow morning. However I think they wont be able to access to the district station because it will be locked by ODF (as usual). Then there will be an escalation to ODF, and only god knows when this will be solved.

Sorry for the rant, but I want to understand how this kind of issue can happen in 21st century? I work from home and I had to cancel all my work meetings for tomorrow. Such a cheap inconvenience.

Can someone who has experience on this explain me under what circumstances and how my ONT can suddenly loose connection to OLT?

Thanks.

Hello @Ozymandiass

A jammer is most likely causing this problem between the ONT and OLT, in some cases your connection comes back online itself. Otherwise a technician has to come.

Thanks for the answer @Waqqas

Guidion (technician) will come tomorrow morning. They will probably check the light levels and I am guessing they might try an another ONT device.

Although probably they wont be able to access to the neighbourhood exchange.

Hopefully it will resolve itself, or another ONT will work. Otherwise I am afraid this will take some days to resolve.

Guidion visit solved the issue. This time surprisingly they were able to get into the neighbourhood exchange. They said, “someone put the plug to a wrong slot”. Incredible.

@Ozymandiass

Guidion also has technicians who have acces to the PoP.
