Zyxel T56 loses internet and WLAN after few minutes of use, makes buzzing sound

Hi,

I have been using Odido fiber for two months without problems, but the last few days, this keeps happening:

  1. Router is switched on. Everything works ok. 2.5G WAN, Internet, 2.4G, 5G lights all green.
  2. After few minutes of regular internet use, the router disappears from the wi-fi connection list in all devices. Only the 2.5G WAN and 2.4G lights are green. Internet and 5G lights are off.
    1. The router makes a low buzzing sound, which wasn’t the case when it was working fine.
    2. The Huawei ONT that the router is connected to has PON and LAN lights green during all this.

There are no repeaters etc connected to the router, and max 3-4 devices have wi-fi connections at the same time. What can be the problem with the router here?

Thanks!

Hello @ege.erdogan

Can you give the router a factory reset by pressing the reset button on the back of the router for about 10 seconds using a small needle for example.

I just did that again. The same issue is still going on after 3-5 min of use.

Hi @ege.erdoganWifi is very important, we can hardly do without it anymore. I really want it to work well for you too!

The strength of the wifi depends on a few things. For example, the distance to the modem, a blockade (walls) or a neighbor's network. We can't customize everything, but we can optimize it! Our community contains some tools that improve the range and stability of your wifi. Check our community for the explanation: https://community.odido.nl/wifi-535/hoe-verbeter-ik-mijn-wifi-276063. Adjusting the wifi channel to automatic is often the solution. Can you try this?

Hi @Ishana van Odido, the channel has always been set to automatic, and the problem is not that the wi-fi signal is weak. It is that there is no wi-fi connection after some time of use, even right next to the router.

@Ishana van Odido A low buzzing sound coming from the router when this issue occurs… Seems like a serious problem. Should this router be swapped immediately (before the router spontaneously bursts into flames)?
