Unstable connection for online gaming with Zyxel T-56 + Zyxel WX5600 (Odido Fiber)

Hello,

I’m experiencing ongoing stability issues with my Odido internet connection, especially during online gaming.

My setup:

  • Main modem/router: Zyxel T-56 (Odido)
  • Wi-Fi access point: Zyxel WX5600 (wirelessly connected to the main router)
  • Connection type: Fiber
  • My PlayStation is connected by LAN cable to the WX5600 (the WX5600 itself is connected wirelessly to the T-56)

The problem:

Even though my speed and ping look good in tests, the connection is very unstable during online gaming. I often get:

  • Ping spikes
  • Packet loss
  • Random disconnects during matches
  • Lag and stuttering, even when speed tests look fine

Because my PS is connected by cable to the WX5600, this doesn’t feel like a simple “bad Wi-Fi” issue. It feels more like instability in the connection, routing, or the wireless backhaul between the T-56 and WX5600.

What I already tried:

  • Restarting the modem and access point
  • Testing at different times of the day
  • Verifying cables and connections

For normal browsing and streaming it’s mostly okay, but for real-time online gaming it’s unreliable and frustrating.

Are there other Odido users with a Zyxel T-56 + WX5600 setup who experience similar issues?

Could this be related to routing, network congestion, or the wireless link between the router and the WX5600?

I’d appreciate any technical advice or an explanation from Odido.

Hello @hoseinali99

This problem is mostly caused by the wireless connection between the router and extended. Try conneting the PlayStation directly to the router with a cable. Does the issue still persist?

Hi, I have the exact same setup with the exact same issue.

When I try to connect from extender to the Playstation with a cable, I get an error "Could not obtain IP Adress"

Please can you advise on a resolution.

Hello @ZenAdam

Is the extender wireless connected to the router? Try connecting your PlayStation wired to the router.

I just saw now on my network topology that the second booster (that I am trying to connect the Playstation to) is not showing up. So it seems the second booster is not connected to my setup. I think the Playstation is trying to connect to the first booster which is one floor down, thus the lagging. How can I connect the second booster to my setup?
