Switching to Odido questions

Hi there!

I’m planning to switch my current internet + TV provider to Odido, and I have a few questions—if that’s okay. Sorry for not writing in Dutch; I’m still learning the language and I want to avoid mistakes before making my decision.

  1. My current provider is KPN and the Network is KPN, and I have a VERY old Genexis FTU installed at the fiber entry point in my home. If I switch to Odido, will KPN Netwerk replace this with the TK01 FTU before the migration? If so, what happens in the period between replacing the FTU and the actual migration to Odido? Will KPN make sure the connection continue to work with the new FTU until the switch to Odido is complete? or Should I first ask KPN to replace my FTU, and then switch to Odido to avoid downtime?
  1. If I sign up for Odido Internet + TV at 8 Gbps with a 2-year contract, can I downgrade the speed later (for example to 2 Gbps), or would I be locked into 8 Gbps for the full 2 years? And is it the same for a 1-year contract?
  1. I’m an enthusiast and currently use my own networking equipment. Since KPN delivers via AON and Odido uses shared XGS-PON, I would need to swap my SFP module. I’ve seen good reviews of this one:
    https://www.fs.com/eu-en/products/185594.html?now_cid=4897
Do I need to make any specific configuration changes to this SFP module (like firmware modifications, etc), or is providing the GPON ID to Odido enough?
  1. I’m also porting my mobile number to Ben, which should complete in mid-December. When ordering Odido Internet + TV online, should I already select that I have an Odido/Ben mobile subscription at home? Or can this be added later to receive the extra discount?

Sorry for all the questions. Switching providers will require re-running the fiber inside my home (to change from SC UPC connectors (current) to SC APC connectors (TK01 + new SFP), so I want to make sure I have a clear transition plan, to reduce as much as possible the downtime.

Kind Regards,

L\

Hello @farox

The technician will take care of the installation, your old FTU can be used but in case it needs to be changed than KPN will have to come and change it.

You cannot downgrade during your contractperiod, this is the same for 1 and 2 years.

The SFP will work once a moderator has registered the serial number of the SFP.

You'll receive klantvoordeel when both subscriptions are activated, choose no for now and later you can activate klantvoordeel.

Thanks Waqqas. I think it’s going to be better if I arrange first to swap with KPN from the GN02 to the TK01 NTU and once that’s is done, I will ask Odido to deliver the new circuit.

Do you know if it’s mandatory for Odido to dispatch a technician to install their devices? Since I’m planning to not use their router and ONT, seems a waste of money and time.

@farox

A technician must come to install fiber.

First the technician installs the Odido equipment and activated the ONT if needed, afterwards he marks your order as completed.
