Can’t receive verification codes

Hello! I’ve recently switched from a prepaid Lycamobile SIM while keeping my old number. I’ve noticed problems with verification codes, as none of them (either from the banking, freelance work or service apps) don’t seem to reach me.

This can’t be a connection issue as Odido SMS can still reach me. This cannot be a wrong number problem either, as I always enter it in the +31 format and double check the digits.

From one of the earlier submissions I’ve heard that such SMS codes are still being forwarded to my old provider by default, so that might be the case.

What can I/Odido do to fix this?

Thank you!

You are correct that the original number holder (lyca here) need to perform a porting check when they receive sms. Foreign/internet sms providers do not do that themselves where kpn/voda/Odido directly send sms to the correct/current provider.

1)odido ask Lyca to fix their problem. This can take time before backoffices send and solve tickets between them.

2) you find another Lyca customer who reports a problem to lyca customer care that he can not send a sms to your number. Once Lyca correct this in their systems,  the Foreign/internet sms will also work.

Hi Kiril, the information @eric you provided is correct. Does this help you? It's completely understandable that you need to receive verification texts as quickly as possible. Nowadays, this method of verification is used very frequently. If you need my help with submitting a ticket, please add your phone number, date of birth, and your postal code + house number to your community profile.

Could you also give me a few examples of times when you expected to receive a text message? I would like to receive 3 examples of the party from whom you expected a text message, the phone number, date, and time. That way, I can forward it for you right away. My colleagues from the technical department will take care of this for you.

Will you let me know?

Hi! Thanks for the info, I’ve done as you asked and added the required data to my profile.

The parties I was trying to receive messages from were Mellow.io and Hinge, though Uber and Telegram were able to reach me. All attempts have been made on February 2nd, 2026 at 10:20 PM. All of these were service verification attempts, thus I cannot provide the numbers

Hope that helps,

Kirill

Hi Kirill, of course you want to receive your SMS messages! Thanks for updating your profile. I just want to check a few things so we can get this resolved as quickly as possible:

  1. Are the SMS messages definitely not ending up in your spam folder?

  2. I really need 3 examples of verification messages. You mentioned Mellow.io and Hinge at 10:20 PM on February 2nd, did both messages arrive (or fail to arrive) at exactly that time? Exact times are important.

  3. If the times are correct, could you please give one more example of a message you expected? You can use Mellow.io or Hinge again.

Thanks for your help with this!

Hi Demy,

The messages did not reach me at all, thus I can’t tell the exact time when they failed to arrive. The spam folder is empty as well

I have requested messages from Mellow.io once again (at 12:16 and 12:18) - none of them arrived.

Thanks!

Our specialists have checked this for you and confirmed that we can see your SMS messages coming in. Could you please check your spam folder once more? Also, could you let me know which phone you’re using so I can look up the exact steps for you?
