Odido contract year-long nightmare — and now I can't even file a complaint.

I'm posting here because after nearly a year of trying to resolve account errors that Odido created, I have reached a dead end. Their complaints email bounces. Their complaints web form returns an error. So here I am.

How this started: a catch-22 of Odido's own making

When my husband and I moved to the Netherlands, we faced a classic catch-22: we needed a Dutch phone number to open a Dutch bank account, but we needed a Dutch bank account to sign up with Odido. An Odido store representative gave us the solution: use a friend's existing Dutch bank account temporarily, and switch everything over once we had our own.

We followed Odido's own advice.

What Odido then told us we had to do

When we were ready to transfer the account, Odido informed us we could not initiate the process for the first 6 months. So for 6 months we reimbursed our friend every month while we waited. When the window finally opened, we used Odido's official contract takeover process exactly as instructed: formal paperwork, copies of IDs, the full procedure. This is not an informal workaround. It is an official Odido process and we followed every step.

What Odido then did

After completing the process, Odido made the wrong changes:

  • Our friend's phone number was moved into our account without authorization from either of us
  • The account name was partially updated but the initials and bank details were left pointing to our friend
  • Our bank account was never updated as the payment method
  • The security mismatch Odido created now means neither of us can correct the bank details, because the system requires you to be logged in as the account holder whose bank is attached, and Odido's errors created a mismatch that blocks any update

Every subsequent contact with support introduced a new error. Each agent seemed unaware of what the previous one had done.

What I have tried in order to complain formally

  • I emailed complaints@odido.nl. It bounced. The address does not exist.
  • Odido customer service sent me a link to their online complaints form. It returned an error: "Something went wrong, please try again."
  • I am now posting here, which I understand from other posts on this community is effectively the only way to reach Odido in writing.

This appears to be a pattern. Multiple posts on this forum document the same experience: no working email, a broken form, and customers directed to a community forum as a substitute for a proper complaints process. Under Dutch consumer law and the Telecommunicatiewet, customers are entitled to an accessible and functional complaints procedure. Odido does not appear to have one.

What I need resolved

Three corrections, all of them simple, all of them caused by Odido:

  • Account name updated to the correct holder
  • Payment details updated to my own bank account
  • My friend's number removed from my account and restored to his, with correct billing

What happens next if this is not resolved

I will file with the Geschillencommissie Telecommunicatiediensten. I understand the filing fee is 50 euros and is returned if the commission rules in my favor. Given the documented timeline, the unauthorized changes, and the fact that Odido's own complaint channels do not function, I am confident in that outcome.

I am posting publicly because this community appears to be the only channel that actually reaches Odido. I would welcome a response from a moderator or Odido team member with a path to resolution.

Hi Levi, I’m here to help you out. I’ve gone over everything, and I have to admit that the subscriptions aren’t currently under the correct name and account number. Here’s the current situation:

- 06xxx440, J.Gxxx, NL12REVOxxx081

- 06xxx667, L.Hxxx, NL12REVOxxx089

From your message, I understand that the names for both numbers are incorrect. This means that a new contract transfer must be performed for both numbers. The first transfer was carried out according to the request and the information entered in the form. Since the current situation is incorrect, a new contract transfer is the only solution.

I am unable to change just the names; this must be done again through official channels. You and your friend can both fill out the form, so that the subscriptions are linked to the correct names.

Once the contract transfer has been requested again with the correct information, everything will be properly registered. I therefore really want to ask you to do this as soon as possible. Due to privacy regulations, I cannot fill out the forms for you, I’m sorry. You can request a contract transfer again here.

Please let me know in this thread if it worked out? I’m here to help you!

I have FINALLY gotten a customer service agent to update the bank account. This guys has done what none of the other dozens of agents could. Not my first call to their customer service today, but suddenly got someone who is compitent. Maybe this post made a difference? Weird because I made it after my first call of the day went nowhere talking to their agents,

But not all is fixed. Now for the other fixes needed...I’ll keep posting here if other things are fixed.

Hi @holsinger, first of all I am very sorry to see that this has happened and I would love to help you with this! It is good to see that the issue with the bank account has been solved now. Do I understand it correctly that the name of the subscription holder is now the name of your friend instead of your own? Or did the name of your friend's subscription change into your own? Either way I would love to look into this for you, however I am only allowed to look into the subscription that is filed under your name. I will make sure to help you with this as best as I can! I just sent you a private message to verify your details. Once the verification is complete, we’ll continue the conversation in this topic. Please also leave a message in this topic as soon as you have sent your details. We do this to make sure that a colleague is always available to assist you. I look forward to your private message!

Hi Nora, I have sent my verification details via private message as requested. Please leave a note here once received so a colleague can follow the case if needed.

For the public record, here is where things stand:

One agent did successfully update the bank account showing on my account this week. I appreciate that. It is showing correctly in my account portal as of two days ago, though it has not yet been tested with an actual charge.

Three issues remain open:

  • The account initials still show JG. My name appears correctly as Levi in the greeting, but the account header still shows the wrong initials. These need to be updated to LH.
  • I need written confirmation that my friend's number (which was moved into my account without authorization during the contract takeover process) is now fully separated onto his own account with his own billing. I cannot verify this from my side.
  • I received an email this week asking me to redo the contract takeover process from scratch, including resubmitting all paperwork and ID. I completed this process correctly over a month ago. Odido made errors during that process. I should not be asked to restart it because of those errors. I have flagged this in my private message to Nora.

I will update this thread as things are resolved.

I want to update this thread with what has happened since my last post, because I think it is important for other customers to see how Odido handles situations like this.

After verifying my details with Nora via private message, I received the following response: because the name on the account does not match my own, Odido cannot verify me as the account holder, and therefore cannot help me. The suggested solution is for the current contract holder -- my friend -- to submit a new contract takeover.

I want to be very clear about what this means in practice.

The reason the name does not match mine is because Odido executed the contract takeover incorrectly. We completed the contract takeover paperwork correctly to initiate the process. My friend this Odido contract for me, but in his name, also had his own separate Odido contract. This was explained to Odido in the paperwork. Odido accepted it. Odido's agents then proceeded to do what was requested, but only partially, and some of what they did was incorrect. They updated the login to be my login credentials with my telephone numbers (correct), they failed to update the account name to my name (incorrect), and they half canabalized my friend’s account removing his telephone number he had with them for years from his account (currently that number doesn’t show up anywhere). Odido created the mismatch. Odido is now using that mismatch as the reason they cannot help me fix it.

This is a circular problem entirely of Odido's making. And the proposed solution -- submitting a new contract takeover -- ignores the fact that we already did this, correctly, over a month ago, at significant effort to both me and my friend. We submitted paperwork. We submitted IDs. Odido accepted the process and then executed it wrong.

I am asking publicly: is there anyone at Odido with the authority to look at the contract takeover that was already completed and accepted, identify the errors made during execution, and correct them? That is all that is needed here. This does not require a new process. It requires someone to fix what went wrong in the one that already happened.

I will be filing with the Geschillencommissie Telecommunicatiediensten if this is not resolved. I have documented every step of this process. The timeline, the errors, the circular responses, and the non-functional complaint channels are all on record.

Hi Levi,

Thank you for sharing your detailed explanation. I’ve taken the time to personally look into your case to make sure this gets the attention it deserves.

I can see that a contract takeover has indeed been requested, where the number ending in 67 is being transferred to the initials L.D.. Normally, a contract takeover follows the official process and needs to be completed through the standard procedure.

That said, given the situation and everything that has happened so far, I have taken an extra step on your behalf. I’ve reached out directly to the responsible department to see if this case can be picked up and corrected internally, without putting you through the full process again.

At the moment, I’m still waiting for their response, but please know that I’m actively following this up for you. As soon as I have an update, I will come back to you here right away.

I’m here to make sure this gets resolved properly.

Hi @holsinger, I've just received an update!

  • The number 06******67 has been put back in the name of J.GXXXX.

  • The subscriptions listed below are part of a Samen (group) setup. Samen bundles cannot be transferred via a contract takeover, which is why there is no contract takeover request visible for them.

Samen subscriptions are excluded from contract takeover. With a contract takeover, only the main subscription can be taken over. This means the Samen lines remain on the old customer number.

  • If there is no longer a Hello (main) subscription on the old customer number, the Samen lines automatically fall back to the Unlimited Basis profile.
  • If it is a Samen SIM Only, it can be cancelled monthly. Under the new customer number, the customer can order a new Samen subscription and take over the old Samen number. Tip: this is easiest via a SIM take-over (moving the SIM/number to a different customer number), so there’s no hassle with internal number porting.

These four numbers are all part of the same Samen group:

  • 06******40 — main subscription
  • 06******44
  • 06******55
  • 06******44

Summary: 064******67 has been restored under J.GXXXX’s name. For the other numbers, please let me know what you would like us to do. We can perform a contract takeover, but then they would no longer be Samen subscriptions, and the customer would likely end up paying more.
