Relocating for work abroad and terminating the contract

Hi, I’m currently planning to relocate abroad for work with a timeline of ± 3 months. However, in the meantime I also need to change an address within the Netherlands. From what I understood, when changing an address I automatically need to sign a new contract with Odido for the coming 12 months. However, I already know I will be leaving the country in about 3 months, so it doesn’t make any sense. Is there any way to keep my current subscription at a new address in Amsterdam, sign for less than 12 months or alternatively how would early termination look like, what are the required documents and what the cost would be?

Hey @wikamalicka, thank you for pointing this out. I would like to clarify this for you.

You are correct in saying that normally, if you move house, we will move with you. However, if we do not offer internet at that address or if you are moving abroad, this rule no longer applies. In that case, we cannot move with you. If this is the case, you can simply terminate the contract free of charge, provided you provide proof to our customer service department that you are moving abroad or to another home where we cannot move with you. I hope I have provided you with sufficient information on this matter. It is also explained in this topic:

hi Tommie, what kind of proof do you require and am I correct in understanding that this applies even within the initial 12 month contract signed?

Hi @wikamalicka, this also applies to a new application with a 12- or 24-month contract. What we need is the following:

  • a termination of the rental contract from the landlord
  • a sales contract for a purchased home
  • a rental or purchase agreement for the new address
  • proof of registration from the local authority (GBA)

Then the telephone customer service can cancel your contract free of charge; we can no longer do this via the community.
