internet issue with T54 (very often drop of internet entirely)

Hi. I have a T54 modem + zyxel 5600 point from Odido. Since last half year, I often experienced (once every few weeks ) entire internet loss in the house. Both wired and wireless device just lost internet for a short period. This can be half minute to a few minutes, or sometimes I have to power cycle the modem and the  fiber optic box to get internet back.

Since a month ago it gets even worse, when I have to power cycle the t54 modem, it does not get back on immediately. When I powered it back on, quite a few LEDs will flash once red together, then no LED for a few minutes, and then it will eventually get back up and functions.

The fact the modem flash all red light and stay no led for a few minutes before it turns on again makes me wonder if something wrong is happening with it. I would like to ask if you can help me with this situation because it is gettign really annoying to experience internet issue almost weekly.

Could this be a damn defect? should it be replaced? I really look forward for your help.

Hello @dcayy

Only the globe can light up red as far as I know.

Is that the case when you have no internet?

Hi @Waqqas I checked again. Indeed it was not all LEDs blink red. It is WAN blink red. And then LAN, WiFi and phone those three one was yellow and two was green. These four LEDs blink once and then all turn off and it take a few minutes until it started to work. So just no led for quite a few minutes.

And the internet drop problem was there for half year already

@dcayy

Its normal that all lights turn on and than turn off, when internet stops working, does the globe turn red?

You can try performing a factory reset of the T54 by pressing the reset button on the back of the router for around 10 seconds using a small object.

@Waqqas I don't recall seeing the WAN led red when this issue happened. At least not when I went to power cycle the device. The time it recovers itself after a few minutes I don't know what was the status.

I will try factory reset later when I am home. But anything else I could do? Because this is not a issue I can reproduce stably. It just happens once every one or two weeks. I cannot really tell if factory reset fix things or not until it happens again.

What I am sure is since I moved in February (same device carried) this issue happens often.

@dcayy

Which devices have you connected with a wire to the T54? There could be something that causes an IP conflict with the T54.

@Waqqas I have a Synology Nas, a Philips TV and two laptop on wired connection. They are all using dynamic DHCP. So I don't think there should be IP conflicts

@dcayy

Try a factory reset and see if the issue persists or not.

@Waqqas I will perform it when I am home. But again, I cannot tell if it does anything untill the issue happens again.

Could an odido moderator check any system logs or connection logs to check what is going on?
