In NLconnect operators can work togther about processes and also these baring things. Another example is if Stichting Brein sue one of the members to block vertoon servers for illegal iptv, the other operators will also block that access.

On this forum, you will not see legal statements from moderators. It is a customer helps customer forum and moderators assist in keeping the discussions in order.  On that point, I fully support the blocking of access to Russian related sites like vk.com. Also discussions how to bypass should not be published.

reply was - we know the issue. we received quite few complaints already.

we work on resolution

The people on the customer service don't know anything. They just ramble off a script.

  • Would love to see landing pages of KPN and Ziggo.

Hence, actions of internet providers goes against clear regulation of “net neutrality”.

This has been determined by Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). The European Union first advised the blocking. Some providers went to the court and in 2025 the CJEU sided with the EU. So, the providers must follow that and that trumps the net neutrality. There are a few exceptions to net neutrality. And for example Russian propaganda/disinformation is one of them.

Here is an older article from before the block.

Here and article about the loss in court.

That court was challenged and decided about specific sites. Then you are talking about the entire .ru and support EU isolation from that. Then block also youtube, X, etc. etc. because these also translate it.

What propaganda is on vk.com? It is predominantly Russian speaking social network, which is unable to penetrate those who do not speak Russian, they are immune to this. :)

As we discussed here, blocking is a decision by operators, who impose censoring measures themselves, not by state, hence bypassing is not illegal.

The European Council has decided that internet service providers in Europe must block a number of specific Russian media websites. Odido Netherlands is bound by European laws and regulations and is therefore required to comply with this decision. As a result, Odido has made the websites of several Russian broadcasters inaccessible.

All Dutch and European providers of mobile and fixed internet are required to implement this blockade. Good to know. We do not share an overview of all websites that have been blocked.

We do not share an overview of all websites that have been blocked.

Or have a landing page explaining why the site is unavailable, like other providers.

Odido can make some improvements there… instead of just blocking and letting the connection time-out.

Freedom of speech EU style, yeah… Are we supposed to read vk.nl instead where they only post the _right_ opinion about the world matters? Haha.
