Need help with eSIM

Hi, I just switched to a new iphone and need to move my old esim and number to the new device. It was a trade in and I no longer have access to the eSim.

I saw instructions to request here https://www.odido.nl/my/toestel-en-sim but I don’t see the order eSim option. I also cannot visit a store because I am currently abroad and will be for a while.

Thanks.

Hello @acekyd my colleague shared the answers to his questions with me, thanks! I wanted to order the eSIM for you, but I see that it's not possible. This is because eSIM cannot be ordered through our system for Prepaid customers. Sorry!

Do you still have the old iPhone? Then you can transfer the eSIM by holding the iPhones next to each other and transferring everything using Quick Start.

If you no longer have your old iPhone, you can only get your number back and a new eSIM in one of our stores with valid ID. My colleagues will be happy to help you with that!

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Hi acekyd, I hope you're enjoying your time abroad and great that you have a new iPhone! You can't order an eSIM via the Mijn Odido website. You can however order it via the Mijn Odido App. Do you have access to this? Please let me know if you were able to order a new eSIM. If not, please add your full name, 06-number, date of birth, zip code, house number and the last 4 digits of your IBAN to your profile. I'm happy to see if I can order a new eSIM for you! 😊

Please note: it can be tricky to activate your new eSIM being abroad and without your current sim card to receive verification sms. But if you have access to Mijn Odido, it should all be fine!

Thank you. I have access to the Odido app, but I got an error saying “Ordering eSim is not allowed for prepaid”.

I have added the requested details to my profile - I have Mijn Odido app so hopefully it works out just fine.

Looking forward to next steps. Thank you.

Hi @acekyd  ,

The error says that you can not order esim with Prepaid, and that is correct. Don't you have a subscription? If you have prepaid, this is the dead end. Only when you.migrated from postpaid to prepaid you could keep using an exsisting esim.

Dead end? Not sure how that works but it renews the bundle monthly, that’s different from a subscription? Also I have switched phones in the past and gotten the eSim with the same number.

I am no longer able to get the number?

If you pay a montly fee which is invoiced to you and which gives you a certain amount of minutes/sms and a data bundle, you have a postpaid subscripti9n. There is an underlaying contract which you signed and is stilp active/valid.

If you top up your prepaid number yourself with some money / voucher and by that your number is deducted a certain amount of money per minute/sms/mb ans stops working when the amount of money is zero, it is prepaid.

Postpaid can change e-sim, prepaid can only handle new phisical sims. You can order a new simcard which is send to the correspondence adres to which the sim is registred to. That can only be an adress in the netherlands.

Alright thank you. To get you right, are you saying I’ve lost the number now? And there’s no way to move forward here? Even though in the past I had been able to transfer the eSim for the same number from one older phone to another?

No solutions?

Hi @acekyd

As long as you made the last topup not longer than 6 months ago, the prepaid subscription is still active. You can login the my-odido account if you did register it under an account, and apply for a sim swap. The phisical sim will be send to the registred adress. Than, you can ask someone to forward that simcard to your foreign adress.

Hi @Marciano van Odido, I’m still a bit confused about this, I’ve not used a physical sim in a minute, and I’ve gotten the eSim transferred previously - I do not want a physical sim.

I have updated my profile with the details you requested, can you please help look into it?

Hi acekyd, thanks for completing your profile. What @eric says is correct. Usually eSIM is not available with Prepaid, unless it started with a subscription that was later turned into Prepaid. I see that you indeed have an eSIM. So, I'm happy to look into it further. There are strict rules regarding ordering a new eSIM. Because we can't do verification via SMS, I sent you a few questions via private message. Please answer these questions correctly, then I can order the eSIM for you.

Good to know once I've ordered the eSIM: I can't activate it for you. If you can't receive the verification sms, there are only 2 options: 1 is to go to 1 of our Odido Shops. And 2 is to login (via iDIN) to Mijn Odido. This second option should work for you as you have access to it. Please reply to my private message with the answers, and then I'll have the eSIM ordered for you in no time! 😊
