Moving abroad - Cancel mobile subscription - Odido is the Comcast of NL

Amongst multiple phone calls to the cancellation department & client services and emails to incasso@odido.nl to try to cancel my subscription, I have yet to succeed. Odido has annoyingly created a system that uses all sorts of tactics to stall and tire a customer out to prevent them from canceling their subscriptions. The pathways are either you attempt to cancel online which may or may not work, or opting to call the cancellation department initially if online cancellation does not work. Then, depending on who you speak to, they may either send you away to call another department that will just reroute you or they will tell you to email incasso. Sometimes emailing works, sometimes it doesnt, and on special occasions you can sync a phone call at the same time as dealing with an email, where they will tell you they never received an email even though you can see it in front of you. After dealing with their internet side of business in a similar scenario, it is pretty obvious that the closer you are to the end of the subscription cycle the more they stall to push you over into the next month’s cycle so they can get that sweet, sweet, 18euro from you. I actually have a dedicated Odido mobile and internet folder, purely for tracking the insanity, filled with bills, correspondence, terms, forum posts, even articles from when they tried to rebrand (because they were the worst telecoms company when they were T-mobile as well) and articles from their much more recent massive “hiccup”.

After you’ve done all that and are graced with an email that acknowledges your existence, you get an approval for a buy-out where they require you to agree to pay all the fees before they are accurately calculated and proof that you have moved out of country, but…. not really. The requested documentation is your name on either a mobile subscription, internet subscription, gas/water/electricity contract or proof of registration with a municipality AT YOUR NEW ADDRESS ABROAD. Why not just the Declaration of Departure Abroad from the municipality you moved away from in the Netherlands? KPN was okay with this. They had zero problems. Simple document shows someone moved out of country. Best part is that after they list the documents, they request as proof then state that they will delete them from their systems after they check them. This part got to me. I can’t even continue this post.

Let me out of my contract with no fees. There are two phone numbers attached to it. Cancel both. I’ve sent more proof than I should have to incasso@odido.nl.

Hello! First of all, congratulations on your move abroad! That is a big and exciting step. I completely understand that with such a big change, you also want your subscriptions to be arranged properly and cancelled without extra hassle.

I also understand the confusion and mixed information you received by phone and email, and I’m here to help you further with this.

The cancellation request for moving abroad is handled by our team via incasso@odido.nl. They do need proof of your move abroad so they can review the possibilities for ending the contract. Once the documents have been checked, they are of course removed from our system again.

From here I cannot directly cancel the subscription or promise a free cancellation, but I am absolutely willing to check the current status of your request and help you further.

I have just sent you a private message to verify your details. Once the verification is completed, we can continue the conversation in this topic so that there is always a colleague available to assist you further.

I look forward to your private message and I will do my best to help you properly with this.

I got two emails written by chatgpt 5.4 neither of which clarified anything except that the first email was wrong (of course it was, it was in the customers favor). Nothing for days now. The private message in this forum went nowhere, no response. Now they've stalled until the next billing cycle. I am sure they will try to charge me for it, or let it go for “good graces” or a “favor” to me. Zero progress!

Hi, thanks for sending the requested information to Demy. Please know that the community isn't a live chat. It can take longer to get a response. But don't worry, you always will. As Demy said we can't cancel your subscriptions via the community, but I'm happy to look into your account to check the status of the cancellations. I see that for the first subscription the cancellation has been completed since yesterday. The second subscription, I see that my colleagues are still in contact with you via e-mail. My colleague sent you an e-mail with the cancellation fee. If you have any questions about these 2 subscriptions or the costs, please keep communicating with them. They will always do their best to answer your questions about this as clear as possible. But it does seem like they are making progress with the cancellations.

No it really doesn’t. Amounts were not clarified. At this point I’ve been given four different amounts with no actual breakdown. What government agency regulates Odido?

Hi, I can understand that you’d like to know exactly what charges will be applied. That’s why I got right to work on it. On June 2, you received an email stating that a one-time fee of € 19,49 would be charged for 06xx631. The subscription will actually be terminated on June 7. This means the subscription will remain active for another 2 days. You were also informed by email that the early termination fee for 06xx860 came to € 41,83. I see that you sent an email inquiry two hours ago, the department has received it. I expect they will respond shortly.

I cannot provide you with any clarity regarding the amount of the termination fee myself, as we do not handle cancellations through this channel.

Please let me know if everything is clear. If not, I’m here to help!

So I am caught up, the summary for the changes to the fee for 06xx860 started at 14.50, then 14.26, then its 28.19, followed by 20.92 and now finally its 41.83. Gotcha.
