I recently set up a a “Samen Unlimited” contract for my wife. We have received the e-sim, which she has installed on her phone (iPhone 15) successfully. It (obviously) does not connect yet because the contract is not yet active.
I now realise that she will actually be abroad on the day that her number is transferred and the contract becomes active. Will this mean that she will not be able to use the new eSIM (and therefore her phone) until she returns to The Netherlands? Or is activation of a new e-sim also possible if you are in another EU country?
If it is not possible to activate abroad, is it possible to delay the activation of the contract until she is back?
Thanks in advance for the answer!

Hi Matt, welcome to our Community and nice to see that you choose for Samen Unlimited! I hope that you and your wife are enjoying your time abroad. It is possible to activate the eSIM and for number porting to take place abroad. We prefer to do this while you are in the Netherlands, because we can't guarantee for 100% that everything goes smoothly with number porting. From my experience 9 out of 10 times it goes fine. So, you can choose. We can always delay number porting to a later date when she is back in the Netherlands. Please let me know what you want. If you want to delay it and you already have a preferred date, I can change it from July 31st to the new date. I'd love to hear from you! 😊
Hi Marciano, thanks for the response!
Glad to hear it will likely be fine. I think I will let it happen as planned then, and in the case I land in the 1 out of 10 times that it is a problem, I’ll call support.

Hello , I have similar situation , I’m switching to new iPhone device and while tried the iOS option “transfer eSIM to new iPhone” it does not happen. Will the option of ordering new eSIM and activating while abroad work for me ?
Hello @makis1985, I'd be happy to give you more clarity on that! If the option to transfer your eSIM to new iPhone fails, you can always choose to order a new eSIM through your My Odido account. The QR code will be prepared directly in your account. When you scan the QR code, it will be linked in your new iPhone. You just need to activate it afterwards. This can also be done easily via your My Odido account. If your old eSIM still works, you can activate it with SMS verification. Otherwise, you can also choose to activate it through iDIN (bank verification).
However, we always recommend activating a SIM card on our own Dutch network, then we can guarantee successful activation. Should something go wrong during activation, then the network of the foreign provider is in between and it becomes difficult to solve the problem. But of course you can always try, it should just work.
