Cancel of subscription

Hi,

I have a mobile subscription and would like to terminate it earlier than stated online(Dec 2025). I’ve called customer service and they mentioned that if I want to terminate earlier, let’s say in April, then I will need to pay in full for the remaining months until Dec 2025. However, I found the link below that mentioned only need to pay 50% for the remaining months until Dec 2025. Can you clarify which is the correct information?

Hello ​@regdlee very understandable that you want to cancel your subscription earlier, when it is no longer needed. Apologies that the redemption was not communicated properly, I'll be happy to give you more clarity on this! 

If you want to cancel your subscription earlier than the end date, you need to buy it off. You then pay 50% of the monthly costs for the remaining months and the device credit you still have open (if you have one). 

If I process the cancellation for you today, the earliest your subscription can be cancelled is 17/03/25 due to one month's notice. Exactly how much the surrender charge would cost, I can calculate for you. However, I am still missing some data in your profile. Can you provide your full name, zip code + house number, date of birth and the last 4 digits of the bank account number known to us in your profile?  Then I will start working for you right away! 

I will share the amount with you first. If you agree, I just need to do an additional verification to make sure that you are the right person. For this I will send a verification code by text message to your number. As soon as you can share the correct code, I will start arranging the redemption for you!

Did you try the URL mentioned in the topic you quoted?

The topic you quoted is over a year old, but I checked some other topics in Dutch. They all mentioned 50%, call the costumerservice again with those details. Not sure if the topics here are still up-to-date, maybe they changed their policy recently. But you can always try :)

 

The 50% is without the device payment and discounts on the subscription.

I couldn’t find any information regarding the 50%. Do you have the links to those information where it mentioned to only pay 50% for the remaining months?

Like I said before, maybe they changed their policy. If the costumer service said you have to pay the full price, that's the correct information.

The 50% is never a formal right by law. If you have a subscription for x months, they expect payment of x months.  If there was a temporarily deduction of remaining months, that is not something that is than valid for all running contracts. They do offer several duration periods of contracts, so if you are not sure you can have 24 months of contract period, customers also can choose 12 months. You pay a bit more, but the cancellation fee will also be over a shorter period.
