Need Help Setting Up ASUS RT-BE92U with Odido Fiber (Zyxel T56 Replacement Issues)

Hello Odido Community,

I'm trying to replace my Odido Zyxel T56 modem with my own ASUS RT-BE92U router but can't get a working internet connection. ONT is the one provided by Odidio and I didn’t change that.

Current Setup & What I’ve Tried:

  1. MAC Cloning:

    • Cloned the WAN MAC address from the Zyxel to the ASUS.
    • Still no working internet.
  2. DHCP Settings:

    • Set DHCP Query Frequency to Normal, Continuous, and Aggressive (tested all).
    • Used IPoE (DHCP) as the connection type.
  3. Static IP Attempt:

    • Manually entered the public IP, subnet mask, and DNS servers from the Zyxel.
    • ASUS shows “Connected” but still no browsing.
  4. VLAN Configuration (802.1Q):

    • Set VLAN ID (VID) 300 and Priority (PRIO) 0 → No internet.
    • Tried VLAN 6 and VLAN 7 → No internet.
    • Also tested no VLAN tagging → No internet.
  5. Other Tests:

    • Disabled Dual WAN.
    • Checked NAT Passthrough & ALG settings.
    • ASUS WAN is in Auto-detection mode.
    • Tried enabling DHCP Option 60/61 with “Odido”.

Questions for the Community:

  1. What VLAN ID does Odido use for internet with Zyxel T56?
  2. Do I need DHCP Option 60/61, and if so, what values should I enter?
  3. Should I be using IPoE (DHCP), PPPoE, or something else?
  4. Has anyone successfully replaced their Odido Zyxel T56 with an ASUS RT-BE92U router?
  5. Is there anything else I should be trying?

Any help or working configurations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  1. What VLAN ID does Odido use for internet with Zyxel T56?

VLAN 300 to be able to get your internet up and running, no need op any DHCP option or IPoE/PPPoE.

Look at the following page “How to set up IPTV on ASUS router?”, but i.s.o. IPTV, you fill in the Internet section only and press apply.

Reboot ONT & Router after these changes to take effect.

Thank you for your quick response. As I mentioned above, I tried what you suggested but it doesn’t work for some reason. Do you have any other suggestions? Could it be an Asus firmware problem or because it’s a new model, it is not compatible?

Most of the older ASUS routers, work correct with only making the above settings active.

Many years ago i also was using an ASUS with this settings, worked without issues. The only thing was in those days, i used Asuswrt-Merlin custom FW.

Checked the Merlin site, but there seems no Merlin version available for your model to try.

Could be some kind of ‘incompatibility’, but not sure.

I can't imagine it's a compatibility issue. Especially with a router that current.

Could you completely factory reset the router again and only set the mentioned VLAN to 300 (maybe something set earlier is messing things up). WAN should be set to retrieve public ip via DHCP.

If it still fails maybe you can post a screenshot of the settings where you changed them.

I second this motion. Factory reset the ASUS, then set VLAN 300, nothing else.

You might want to make sure it has its own MAC again, that the MAC cloning is gone after factory reset (seriously, that was not a helpful move.)

I'll give this another try in the evening, thanks

To provide an update: Good news, it’s resolved! Thank you all!

For anyone facing the same issues in the future, here’s a reference: The main problem was that I initially configured the router using the Asus Router Android app to apply the settings, and then I used the web interface. For some reason, this caused issues. If you need to configure the modem, do it directly through the web interface and follow the instructions mentioned here: LAN Port → Internet → VID 300.

Thanks for the good news, and especially for the instructions in case someone else has the same issue!
