Hello, I am a competitive player in a certain game and I need to know how the outgoing and incoming traffic from my home goes from certain providers, because the KPN provider sent very bad routes from me and the incoming traffic to servers in Frankfruit data centers was also not good, I’m currently at the stage of choosing a provider, I’ve been looking at odido, because the download and upload speed is 8000, most likely these values indicate that I will be connected directly to the equnix data center in Amsterdam, that is, most likely everything will be fine with outgoing traffic, could you help me with this information, I am willing to pay extra money for the best routes to servers located in London, Paris and Frankfruit. Also, I would immediately choose this provider if it would be possible to configure these settings in routes:

  • Is it possible to disable DLM (Dynamic Line Management) or set the minimum possible depth of interleaving?
  • Is there an option for separate prioritization of UDP traffic?
  • Set a low loss priority for gaming UDP traffic.
  • Reduce buffer sizes (or increase them to check for dependency).
  • WRED.
  • Disable Flow Control.
  • Enable Fast Path at the interface level.
  • Packet Burst Protection: Disable burst protection.
  • Enable hardware checksum validation for IPv4.

Welcome to the community where customers help other customers.

Well, you wil get a consumer connection. This means that the router is running ISP software, with a lot of thins not accessible by the consumer.

What you want is another layer of configuration, that a consumer router or even on a consumer connection is not possible.

What i could advice you get in contact with Odido business, to see if a business connection has more options.

hi @kompr1 ,

For the ISP part, there are no guarantees for the items you require. All Fiber To The Home connections have by default an overbooking, technically you can not get any 1:1 connections over these connections.

As Pieter is describing for business customers, there are 1:1 connections, so with 1 or 2 hobs to the Amsterdam internet exchange. These are called Fiber to the Office (FTTO). The thing is that the reach of these fiber networks is much smaller as they are layed out for businesses, so on industrial area’s or at one of the big datacenters. Even than, a pricepoint which is 10 times higher and a contract for a few years is quite common. You will need a KVK number (as a business) to start with before contacting the business department.

Tips,

> talk to other members of your game community, how do they do this?

> Start a game business with KVK, so you can get access to business internet FTTO.

> Rent a space in an industrial complex which has the FTTO access.

@kompr1 you can trace routes an run MTR/Pings from globalping.io or ripe atlas services where the first one won't require an account.

The best peerings are handled bij ISP KPN, Odido handels a lot of traffic via the AMS-IX. KPN is for most of the destinations 3-4ms faster than Odido.

If you run a self build router, I assume you already have because of your demands. Look into the tuning at your router, UDP GRO optimization etc. Providers have the same peerings for every customer. Use www.globalping.io to create your view, and let us know your outcome which you have chosen then.

Thank you everyone for the information, regarding the ping of the CPN, this does not concern me much, because I do not need the speed of the routes, but so that there are no stops on these routes, regarding the legal connection, maybe I can feel this, but for now I would like to find out if I can connect Ododo for a temporary period, conditional 2 weeks, and if I’m not satisfied, cancel without extra expenses?
