Wifi Plus werken niet

We received our two Wi-Fi Plus points on Monday. However, during installation, they didn't work as expected. I spent hours trying to get them working, but without success.

When the installation technician arrived, he connected the modem and told me he'd paired the Wi-Fi Plus points and that they would start working as soon as I placed them in the desired locations. Initially, I saw a Wi-Fi signal on my devices, but there was no internet connection. Later, I noticed that the signal strength light on the Wi-Fi Plus points was off, indicating they weren't properly paired with the modem.

This is what I see when I try to set them up myself:

I reset the Wi-Fi Plus.

I put the plug into the socket and connect the UTP cable to the modem (yellow port).

The green power light will flash for about a minute, then it will flash orange.

After a few minutes, the Wi-Fi light will start flashing.

After about a minute, the signal strength light (three bars) turns green. At this point, I assume the Wi-Fi Plus is paired with the modem. But as the manual states, it wasn't flashing orange while the power light was flashing orange.

However, after moving the device to a different location, one of the Wi-Fi Plus points initially stayed connected (but lost connection overnight), and the second point didn't show a green signal strength light at all — even when I placed it in the same room as the modem or in the place of my old Ziggo extender.

Currently, only the power and Wi-Fi lights will turn green when the UTP cable is disconnected, but the signal strength light will remain off.

Hi @Veera, I would love to help you to make sure that the Wifi Plus point will work properly! In your explanation I am reading that the power light will flash orange. This means that it is still connecting. However it is not clear to me that the power light will stop flashing and starts burning orange continuously. This means that it was able to connect. It can take a bit of time before the power light starts burning orange continuously. Can you try the install again and wait for the light to continuously burn orange? After that you can move the Wifi Plus point to a different location. If this is still not working, please let me know what the lights are doing exactly and add the last 4 digits of your bank account number to your profile. That way I can look into this for you!

Hi Nora,

Thank you for your response and guidance. I have updated the last 4 digits of my bank account in my profile.

I followed your instructions and repeated the installation steps. Here is what I observed:

First Wi-Fi Plus – Initial Test (First Floor, 10 meters from main modem):

  • The Wi-Fi Plus was initially paired, but it lost connection overnight.(Yesterday)

Today around 12:30 PM
Step 1: Testing Near Main Modem

  • Moved the Wi-Fi Plus point next to the main modem.

  • Turned on the power.

  • The green power light flashed, then became solid green after about 30 seconds.

  • The Wi-Fi light started blinking after 1 minute.

  • The signal strength light remained off for several minutes.

Step 2: Reset and Re-pairing

  • Pressed the reset button for about 5 seconds until the power light started blinking green.

  • After 30 seconds, I plugged the UTP cable from the LAN1 (yellow port) on the modem into the Wi-Fi Plus.

  • After another 30 seconds, the power light blinked orange.

  • After another 30 seconds, the power light stayed orange.

  • After 15 seconds, the Wi-Fi light turned green and stayed green.

  • After about 10 seconds, the power light started blinking red and orange.

  • After about 10 seconds, the signal strength (three bars) turned green and stayed green.

  • After 20 seconds, the power light stayed orange and the signal strength stayed green, while the Wi-Fi light started blinking green.

  • The device remained in this state for over 10 minutes.

Step 3: Moving Wi-Fi Plus to Living Room (10 meters from modem, same floor):

  • Switched off the Wi-Fi Plus and unplugged the UTP cable.

  • Plugged the Wi-Fi Plus into power in the living room.

  • Turned on the power.

  • The power light blinked green, then became solid green after 1 minute.

  • The Wi-Fi light turned green and started blinking, then stayed green after another minute.

  • I waited for more than 10 minutes, during which both the power and Wi-Fi lights stayed green.

  • The signal strength light never turned on at any point.

Summary:

  • The signal strength light only turns on when the Wi-Fi Plus is directly connected to the modem with the UTP cable and during the pairing/reset process.

  • When moved to a different location (living room, 10 meters away), the signal strength light never turns on, even after waiting for over 10 minutes.

  • The device appears to lose connection when placed away from the modem.

Please let me know the next steps, or if you need any more information from my side.

Thank you!

Veera

Hi @Veera, thank so much for the trouble! This is great, I appreciate that you wrote everything down! When checking you connection I can't find any Wifi Plus connected to the modem, is this correct? I wanted to check if I could spot and check the connection, but I can't. When connecting Wifi Plus to the modem with UTP, are you connecting it in an empty LAN port? I can see that you have switches connected to LAN3 and LAN4. Could you connect Wifi Plus to LAN2 directly? Also, is it working when you disconnect your switches and try it with just Wifi Plus connected? I am super curious, thank you for checking!

Hi Cheyenne,

Thank you for your suggestions and for looking into this.

LAN2 and LAN3 are normally connected to my workstations on the first and second floors via UTP cables. To troubleshoot, I unplugged both of these and connected the Wi-Fi Plus directly to LAN1 on the modem for pairing. After pairing, I moved one Wi-Fi Plus to the ground floor and the other to the first floor.

Both Wi-Fi Plus points initially connected successfully. Once they were paired, I reconnected the UTP cables for my workstations to LAN2 and LAN3. Both Wi-Fi Plus points remained connected for a while, but after about 15 minutes, the Wi-Fi Plus on the first floor lost its connection. The Wi-Fi Plus on the ground floor is still working.

Looking back, I realize that on the first day I may have used a similar setup, and then the Wi-Fi Plus on the ground floor disconnected overnight.

Could you please advise what the permanent solution would be for my situation? I hope this is a standard setup, as I need stable Wi-Fi coverage across all floors. Any specific recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Veera

Hi @Veera, am I understanding it correctly that you only have troubles with 1 extender? Can it be that the extender you used on the ground floor first that lost connection then got installed to the first floor? Because in that case I suspect that the extender itself is not working properly and I can immediately exchange it for a new one. Will you let me know if I can arrange this for you?

Hi @Nora van Odido ,

Apologies for not getting back to you earlier; I was traveling. After a couple of days, both extenders stopped working again. At this point, I’m not sure whether the issue is with the extenders themselves or with the connection.

Could you please arrange for someone to visit my place and troubleshoot? I’ve done everything I can from my end.

Thank you,

Veera

Hey @Veera, would you please perform a full factory reset on the modem and both wifi points for me?

Leave all settings as default and reinstall both wifi points. They should then work properly. If this is not the case, please send me the MAC address of the wifi point that is not working so that I can investigate it specifically. Thank you in advance!
