I’d like to get a refurbished phone as part of a SIM subscription with Odido.
My reasons are:
- 90% of the population in Congo are enslaved (including children) to mine raw cobalt, coltan and lithium which are used to produce batteries for electronic devices with their hands. This is slavery in the modern day and companies like Apple and Google and other manufacturers are complicit in this.
- There is an over production of phones and electronics in the world, which are then disposed and create toxic waste and as consumers we can make a change by not buying new electronics
- It’s more sustainable to buy a refurbished phone, which is what I’d like to do but I was sad to find out that Odido does not offer this option at the moment, I think it would be great if it was possible to buy a refurbished phone instead of a new one
Do you agree with me? Would you also prefer to buy a second-hand phone?
