I travel a lot in Europe and for the past 6 months I probably spent 40$ in data abroad with alternative sims in EU because my Odido sim simply does not work in : Belgium, UK, Spain or France. It is the same, the network shows but I am offline on all apps and I am extremely frustrated with this situation as it was working perfectly when my network was managed by T mobile, I also tried to leave of course because this is unbelievable and not okay, but I need to pay which 160€ to leave I also find this unbelievable.

I called the customer support several time and they advised to turn off the phone several time for long period when abroad and guess what? It does not work. I am very frustrated and I don t feel like calling for once again being advised simple trouble shooting steps who don t fix the issue, I miss T mobile 🥹

Hello @ines_88 welcome to our Community! How nice that you are traveling in the EU, have you seen many beautiful places? Internet in the EU should work, but as Eric points out, consumption in the EU should not be higher than in NL otherwise you will get extra charges.

Let's look at a solution together! When I search on your email address, I come across the number ending in ***9340 is that correct? In addition, I see that you still have enough data to use and I do not see any blockages for Roaming or other details.

Is your Roaming on? What often will help is by manually connecting to another provider's network abroad. Depending on what country you are in now, there are different networks. You can see on our website: https://www.odido.nl/service/producten/mobiel/buitenland/tarieven-dekking which networks are available in each country. You can then manually connect to these networks through your device's settings.

Could you check for me if the software of your device is up to date? In addition, you can also reset your phone's network settings. On an Android device, you do this in the following way: Settings > General Administration. Then choose Reset and then Reset network settings. If you have an iPhone, you do it this way: 'Settings' > 'General' > 'Transfer or reset [device]' > 'Reset' > 'Restore network settings'.

I'd love to hear if this helps!

Hi @Pharwin van Odido

Thank you for your message, yes it is correct my number is the one you pointed out and yes I do travel a bit and enjoy it both for work and seeing friends here and there which is why I d like to be able to rely on my data when it happens instead of always planning for alternatives.

Roaming is on and the software is up to date (my phone does these update automatically).

I tried again (as I did try it before) to choose the network manually and that did not but

I must say the re-initialisation of the network settings did fix it!! Finally!! Now I just hope I do not need to do it every time I go to a new country but thanks for the tips, this one finally worked!

Thanks

Ines

There is a maximum GB per month which you can use for free. Also, the amount of data in the last months which you use in EU can not be higher than in NL.

If you passed these imits, you have to aggree with a surcharge. When not accepted via sms/app you can make calls, but no dataservice.

Hi @eric I never received such text so I am really confused and I travel a lot but I stay most of the time in NL but I often hop for a few days here and there both for leisure and work and I am not a huge data user : no stream , youtube…I mostly use data for whatsapp text and maps.

Hi @ines_88 nice that it worked out, I'm glad to hear that and hopefully you don't have to do it every time when you go to another country! If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know. For now, I wish you a really nice journey in the EU! 😄
