Odido fiber constantly dropping connection with internet, every few minutes. Delta network, Z56 modem.

I am glad you made a thread about it. I immediately went and did a line measurement for you. I don't see anything crazy on it and everything looks fine. I also don't see the outage in my measurement, the WAN uptime is fine and matches the device uptime. What exactly are you seeing? Can you also tell exactly what devices you have on your network? Thanks in advance! 

That’s interesting. These dropouts happen on all devices. I use a few laptops, phones, two desktops, a TV, and a Samsung Smartthings hub. All these devices are regularly disconnected form the network. The phones lose connection with the internet and switch to data, sometimes they reconnect to the wifi with success, sometimes not. TV gets kicked from wifi and has to be reconnected manually every few days. Laptops and desktops lose internet connection for a few seconds at a time but stay connected to the wifi. Smartthings hub also regularly loses internet connection and sometimes disappears from the network, making it impossible to control the Zigbee devices at home for a few minutes until it reconnects. 

I looked into my router logs and I saw that it keeps sending like 10-20 udhcp: sending renew or udhcp: sending discover (don’t remember exactly which one it was)  requests every 2-5 minutes. Maybe that has something to do with the issue? I can paste the logs as a comment when I get home. 

Here are the WAN-DHCP logs with a lot of repeating udhcp sending dicover messages. 

There are also a lot of warnings in the “mesh” category, but these are new and likely not related to the issue, as the issue used to happen even before these mesh warnings showed up in the logs, including before I had the wifi extender installed. 

Thanks for sharing ​@Lursmani9. Could you by any chance provide a MAC address of a device on which you are noticing the outage and then please provide a date/time of when the outage occurred? Then I can investigate a bit more. The only thing I have noticed is that the coverage of the modem itself is not that good and there is some congestion on the 2.4GHz frequency from time to time. Where exactly is the modem located?

I will start logging again this evening and provide the MAC addresses of my computers. 

The modem is located in the meterkast, while the wifi extender is located in the office on the floor above. The extender is connected to the modem using an ethernet cable. There is a thin brick wall between the modem and the laptop/PC. In addition, everything except the PC should be connected to the 5Ghz network as they have appropriate wifi radios, only one of the PCs is stuck on 2.4Ghz, as well as a wifi plug that I use for Christmas lights and an energy monitoring device from Aurum. The wifi plugs and the energy monitoring device were connected in the last month, but the issue has been happening since the very start of my subscription.  

I have made a log on my PC with the MAC being: E0-E1-A9-34-35-45

As you can see, there are constant ping spikes, often up to and above 1000. This evening the internet was so bad that streaming go constantly interrupted, most likely due to these lag spikes.

I doubt this is caused by signal strength being low, since I have my work laptop in the office right next to the wifi extender, and that laptop also frequently loses connection to the internet. 

Just caught another outage at around 21:21:55. I exported the logs between 21:21 and 21:22, maybe there are some clues there. 

 

And here is proof that a powerflip has no effect. The wide red column here is the powerflip, and as visible, network issues continue as before. 

It seems to only happen in the evenings after your tests, do you get it during the day or not at all ​@Lursmani9?

​@Tommie van Odido It happens during all times of day, but I can only log it in the evenings since I work during the day. In the screenshop in the OP we can see that some outages are in the morning or the afternoon. I could also log it tomorrow during the whole day, but I see no point as the first screenshot already shows that it happens at all times. 

It does vary from day to day, some days the outages are less frequent, while the day before yesterday my internet was almost unusable. 

We have opened a ticket, we are indeed seeing some packet loss back with several customers on Delta ​@Lursmani9. We suspect this is the cause for you as well. Hopefully they can investigate this soon!

I do notice that the network outages are a little less frequent, but they still occur several times a day. So sadly it's not fully fixed yet. My tv and smart hub are regularly without internet connection and have to be reconnected almost daily. And I still get huge lag spikes when gaming. 

Hi ​@Lursmani9, good that you indicate this! I would really like to investigate this further for you. Do you notice that it occurs more often at certain times or does this really differ per day? I haven't noticed a pattern, it happens randomly throughout the day. It even happens overnight sometimes, when no one in the house is using the internet (I notice this when in the morning my phone is connected to the guest network because  the main network lost connection overnight. Also my smart hub says that it lost connection).

It does happen less frequently than since I first posted, but it's still a daily occurrence. 

I went to check for you ​@Lursmani9, but I see that there was no break on the 11th.

However, I see that your phone switched to the wifi point in the morning. Can you list all the clients you have connected to your network? I can see that some of them are overloading the 2.4GHz band. This can cause 'dropped services', but this is caused by a jammer on your network. The internet coming from the fibre is simply stable and does not drop out.

If you experience this again, could you please send me the date, time and MAC address? Then I can do a more targeted search!

I can list the data you're asking, but I'm certain this isn't a wifi issue. Odido didn't detect issues with the network before either.

This is an issue with the fiber connection. Since this problem started I've wired my commonly used stationary devices via ethernet but this issue happens on those devices too.

In addition, my phone and all my wireless devices use 5ghz, except 2 wifi smart plugs, a wifi camera and a Energyflip device from Aurum Europe. Signal strength is excellent for all devices except one wifi plug, they're all practically next to the modem/wifi extender. 

I can make another log using my ethernet-wired computer. 

Started logging today after work. I am logging on a windows computer that is connected to the modem via ethernet. I have detected two instances of network outages so far, at 21:54 and 22:34.

Same issue here! It’s really annoying since it’s not consistent as well. I’ve tried restarting the modem and it didn’t help.
