unstable internet connection

Hello,

Roughly 4 weeks ago I’ve renewed my contract with Odido. Since then, I’ve experienced interruptions of my Wi-Fi connection for periods of ~30s. This has happened both in my desktop, which is in a separate room from the router ~2m away, and to my phone while standing in the same room as the router ~3/4m.

The first time it happened, I restarted the router and it was okay for a few days. When it happened again, I did a reset. Again, the same happened after a few days and I contacted Odido chat support which pointed me to select a single channel for WiFi (I selected channel 6) and select No to changing between 2.4Ghz and 5G.

This was 4 days ago and, so far, I only had a WiFi interruption for 1/2 seconds. However annoying, the biggest issue is that I know have ping spikes of up to 600ms.

I contacted Odido phone support today, who said they don’t see anything unusual (which makes sense, given the random nature of the spikes) and recommended me that I create a post here.

My modem is a Zyxel T-50.

Does anyone here have any experience with similar issues or advice of what else to try?

Hi @Mr Tahin, thank you for starting this topic and @Waqqas thanks for helping! I am here for you and I want to check your connection. We will fix this, no worries! First, could you please complete your Community profile by placing your full name, street name, zipcode, house number, date of birth, your mobile number and the last four digits of your bankaccount? That way I can check your connection. Also, would you be okay with me swapping your T-50 to our newer T-56 model? I think this will help a lot!

Hello @Mr Tahin

Do you have a Fiber or DSL connection?

Do you encounter problems on wired devices aswell?

When there is an interruption, does the globe turn red or does it remain green?

Is the high latency causing problems on all devices or only on one device?

Hello @Waqqas ,

thank you very much for your reply.

I have no wired connections, but I’ll buy a cable to test.

From what I saw, it always stays green.

Yes, both desktop and phone device suffer from high latency spikes.

@Mr Tahin

Do you have a Fiber or DSL connection and by a reset do you mean a factory reset by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds?

Sorry @Waqqas , I missed your DSL or fiber question. Looking at my slip, I have fiber.

By reset I mean that I pressed the button on the router until the lights went off (~10s).

Thank you @Mr Tahin! Almost everything is completed, I only miss the last four digits of your bankaccount. Can you complete this? Thank you very much!

Apologies @Cheyenne van Odido , I got distracted when looking for those. It should be okay now.

in the meantime I continued trying to troubleshoot. To better see what happens in the router, I set the WiFi channel of 2.4Ghz back to Auto and Change between channels back to Yes. Yesterday, I had no issues, however today I got the same issue of disconnection for ~30s. Looking at the router, all lights are stable except for the Globe, which is blinking yellow.

No worries @Mr Tahin, that can happen to the best of us! Thanks for completing. I made sure your modem was swapped right away to the T-56. You will soon receive an e-mail from the delivery party with the trackinglink. The T-50 doesn't need to be returned, you can bring this to a tech-recycle point near your home. Let me know what the outcome is, I am curious!
