Internet light is green, IP addresses are allocated but no internet

Hello all,

I installed the Odido router and connected everything together with the ONT following the manual. I see the green Internet sign on the router blinking and the IP/DNS addresses are correctly allocated to the router (checked it via the router interface), but there is still no internet. I checked it on 4 different devices, both wired and wireless, so I dont think its a device issue.

I called the Odido support and they confirmed that they can see the router connected to the internet and they could also restart the router remotely and change settings. However, no internet at home.

When I try doing “ping google.com” or “traceroute google.com” (or any other domain), the terminal just says “Unknown host”.

I also connected to the ONT and it says that it is activated and registered correctly and exposed to the internet.

Any idea what can be the problem?

Extra details to the case:

  • I went with the provider switch from KPN to Odido. On March 16th KPN terminated my contract, however at this point Odido router was not installed (only the ONT by the technician).
  • After ODF technicians connected the fiber to my home at mid-February, I didnt hear anything from Odido about the next steps. So I installed my router myself only after KPN terminated my contract (disconnected me from the internet).
  • Odido support suggested me to call the third-party tehnicians to check my router connection. But if Odido can restart the router remotely and can see all devices connected to it, I dont think that the router is connected incorrectly.
  • As a next step, Odido has created a ticket for themselves to check something in their systems. Not sure if this helps, so looking for other ideas here.

If this installation of your router isn’t done by Odido/Guidion it could just be that your connection isn’t activated yet.

You say your router got an external IP address. Where did you check that? Does it really get an IP address for the ETH_Internet interface? There is also the ETH_MGNT interface over which Odido can control your router. That interface gets its own IP address.

Hello @just_an_internet_user

Can you give the router a factory reset by pressing the reset button on the back of the router using a small needle?

If that doesn't help, do you have another router with VLAN capability which you can test?

Thanks for the quick replies!!

I did that and it didnt help unfortunately.

I have a router from KPN but I dont think it will work with Odido… You are suggesting that the problem can be in the router?

How can I check that? I can call Odido support once more to double-check that, but they have told me that everything should be activated and work correctly.

I checked that connecting to the router via the exposed interface (192.168.100.1). Both ETH_MGNT and ETH_Internet have IPs, IP subnet masks and primary and secondary DNS addresses (different ones). If I click “Release” and “Renew”, then the same addresses got assigned.

Did you mean 192.168.1.1? I’m not aware of 192.168.100.1 being used by any Odido router.

Wat are the first 2 numbers of the public IP on ETH_Internet and what are the assigned public DNS servers for that interface?

Sorry, made a mistake there, it is 192.168.1.1, my bad.

Wat are the first 2 numbers of the public IP on ETH_Internet and what are the assigned public DNS servers for that interface?

The public IP on ETH_Internet is 31.20.XXX.XXX. Type is IPoE.

DNS servers are 37.143.84.228 (primary) and 62.58.48.20 (secondary).
