Internet speed while roaming in Brazil

I am currently traveling through Brazil and I bought the XL5 roaming packages, which should have given me 15GB of high speed internet for 30 days (it was not cheap).

I only used 6GB and am on my second week, but my internet speed was drastically cut. I can only access H+, even where 5G is clearly available. Odido's site states that Claro is the partner provider I I've had plenty of evidence of other Claro phones getting 5G coverage in the same place I can only get H+.

This issue is consistent, I've quadruple checked all of my network configurations, it is pretty clear, my high speed internet worked up until I used around 5GB (which would be the M5 roaming package) and then service was cut.

Odido does not offer any online channel I can use to solve this, only the forum and a NL phone number (which I'm sure, will be charged if I try a call).

Does anyone knows how can I have this fixed?

Hello @Lucas N How nice that you are traveling in Brazil. Is everything going well there? I understand that you want to have a stable internet connection, I'm happy to give you more clarity.

Good to know: we depend on the network of various providers in Brazil for this. What often helps is to manually select a different network from another provider. You can do this via your device's settings.

Could you check for me whether your device's software is up to date? You can also reset your phone's network settings. On an Android device, you can do this as follows: Settings > General management. Then select Reset and then Reset network settings. If you have an iPhone, you can do this as follows: Settings > General > Transfer or reset [device] > Reset > Reset network settings. Then restart your device.

Let me know if it works!

Thank you for your kind response, Pharwin

I tried manually selecting providers and resetting my network settings as you advised

I tried specifically turning only 5G off to see if I could at least get 4G.

Getting on and off airplane mode.

Restarting my device.

Rest assured that I've triple checked all of my devices configurations regarding network, as well as I have checked the availability of high speed internet in my location by checking local phones that access the same networks.

I'm pretty confident that this is 100% something on the provider side. I've searched other forums online and this seems to be a recurring issue with roaming in Brazil. It seems that when people buy larger packs (such as XL5), people loose high speed after a certainly n amount of GB, much like some local providers cut the "premium high speed".

Could anyone either check that, do some "roaming reset" for me, or at least reimburse my XL5 purchase? It is not a cheap roaming plan and it is quite unacceptable that it only works for 5GB instead of the advertised 15GB.

Best regards,

Lucas

Hello @Lucas N in that case, I can create a ticket for you and forward it to one of our network specialists so that it can be investigated.

Are you currently still abroad and until when? Can you provide me with three recent examples, including the date, time, and location?

Can you add your full name, phone number, zip code + house number, date of birth, and the last 4 digits of the bank account number we have on file to your profile and let me know when you've done so? Then I can create it for you and forward it!
